David den Ouden

David den Ouden is a comic artist and writer who comes up with jokes and scenarios for custom cartoons and comics at lightning speed on the spot. At the Cross Comix Festival, David will be present with the Graphic Novel Weekend (GNW) publications H’som (Hilversum, just released!), Hanz (Zwolle), Roffe (Rotterdam), Adem Eve (Amsterdam), H-lem (Haarlem), and U-trek (Utrecht). There is also new material: the Utrecht monster comic Lûne, the Magic the Gathering giclée (art print) Sheep Shrine, De Inktblob (magazine from De Inktpot), sturdy canvas bags featuring the (legendary!) ‘steppeslurfhondje’ (black and rufous sengi) and the ewenicorn 2.0 sheep, and a series of new cards, naturally featuring the steppeslurfhondje as well. He is also bringing the accordion comic / leporello Klodder & Kluwen – duisterlicht (about depression) and the experimental Sjaan, Maggie, Gill en Meneer de Zwart small press publication. David also creates custom Klodder & Kluwen comics with a subject of your choice! Or a cartoon or comic commission with a personal story and jokes. Since 2018, David den Ouden has been steadily rising with his minimalist comic Klodder & Kluwen, alongside all the individual cartoons, comics, and illustrations he creates. He also designs sheep for his own label Go Baaa! David is a co-organizer (and writer and artist) of Graphic Novel Weekend, where writers and artist who do not yet know each other create a complete graphic novel in three days. Every year in a different city. He wrote the scripts and did the lettering for Razcahl the Vampire, the comic that Dinie de Zeeuw is currently creating with Ronald Kroon. David den Ouden (1975) has been drawing cartoons (with puns) ever since he could write his first words. He has continued creating (language-based) cartoons and comics alongside his studies and work. As a creative jack-of-all-trades and freelancer, in recent years he has been devoting more time to creating illustrations, cartoons, comics, scripts, and collaborations.
