Camp Art Class with Judy Moore
This talk and workshop will look into how Camp functions as a mode of cultural recycling, both in and out of comics culture and queer culture more widely. We’ll look at work by artists like Jack Smith, Gina Wynbrandt, Bobby Tran Dale, Trina Robbins, Pee-wee Herman and others to see how their work subverts popular forms and affectionately undercuts meaning.
We’ll look at how marginalised people have been able to engage with the mainstream through exuberant play and baroque excess. This will be a talk and slideshow interspersed with drawing exercises. Open to all skill levels.
