In collaboration with the Volksuniversiteit Rotterdam, Cross Comix offers a short introduction to graphic novels as a mature, multifaceted narrative that blends literature, art, and visual language — as an introduction to the festival and a stepping stone to a course offered by the Volksuniversiteit.

Mark van der Graaff (Rotterdam, 1967) is an illustrator and writer. Under the name m a r k u s, he created cartoons and illustrations for publications including the VPRO Guide, PZC, Psychologie Magazine, and Metro, and published graphic stories in GR’NN, Comix 2000, and the Slibreeks.
